Committee extends condolences to Limpopo SAPS
The Portfolio Committee on Police extends its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the four police officers and a truck driver who passed away as a result of an accident in Mokopane, Limpopo.
“Their act of bravery in trying to save another man’s life will stay in our hearts forever and I hope their death reminds South Africans of the sacrifices that our police make on a daily basis,” said Ms Annelizé van Wyk, the Chairperson of the Committee.
The Committee is confident that a thorough investigation will be undertaken by the South African Police Services to establish the cause of the accident. The Committee further welcomes the quick response by the Ministry of Police and senior SAPS officials as this will go a long way in reassuring service men and women that their leadership cares about them as well as their conditions of work.
“We also would like to wish a speedy recovery to those officers that are in hospital,” said Ms Van Wyk.
