Parliament disassociates itself from the scam email letter, featuring Parliament’s emblem and that of Government.
The scam letter informs the recipient of the email letter that their “contract/inheritance/Wining (sic) file” has been verified and asks the recipient to forward their details. It states that Minister of Finance Mr Nhlanhla Nene gave an “instruction” about how payment should be made to the recipient.
The scam letter is in the name of Mr Mcebisi Jonas, the Deputy Minister of Finance, but who the letter says is the “Chairperson, Finance Portfolio Committee”.
Similar scam emails have circulated in previous years and the revised version referred to above is now doing the rounds.
We urge members of the public to ignore such letters.
