Parliament recommends Jimmy Manyi and Leya Khumalo for vacant positions at MDDA and SABC Boards respectively

Communications Committee recommends two names for adoption by the National Assembly to fill vacancies at the MDDA and SABC Boards

During a meeting today, the Portfolio Committee on Communications recommended the names of Mr Jimmy Manyi and Ms Leya Khumalo for adoption by the National Assembly to fill vacant positions at the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Boards respectively.

The recommendation follows a series of interviews conducted from 4 to 7 March 2014, during which five candidates for each position were interviewed.

If the recommendations are adopted by the National Assembly, Mr Manyi will replace Ms Nothando Migogo on the MDDA Board and Ms Khumalo will take over from Ms Noluthando Gosa, who resigned from the SABC Board in November 2013.

Committee Chairperson Mr Sikhumbuzo Kholwane wished Mr Manyi and Ms Khumalo well. He also thanked the other candidates for accepting the nominations and their willingness to serve in public institutions dedicated to strengthening democracy.
