Parliament notes Public Protector's report on the security upgrades on the President's residence

Parliament has noted the release today of the Public Protector’s report into security upgrades on the President’s residence at Nkandla.

According to the Public Protector, the investigation was conducted on the basis of the Executive Members’ Ethics Act 82 of 1998. In terms of this Act, and as per the Public Protector’s pronouncement, the President must, within a reasonable time, but not later than 14 days, submit a copy of the Public Protector’s report to the National Assembly (NA).

Such a report must, in terms of the Act, contain the President’s comments together with any action taken or to be taken in regard to the report. At this point, the NA has not received a copy of the report.
