The Portfolio Committee on Social Development is happy with the progress regarding the preparations for the 2015/16 budget vote debate.
“The Committee is progressing well and all presentations from the Department of Social Development (DSD), South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and National Development Agency (NDA) were clear,” said Ms Zoleka Capa, Committee Chairperson. DSD, SASSA and NDA presented their 2015/16 annual performance plans to the Committee.
In its annual performance plan, DSD has made an allocation of R138 million for its five operational programmes including administration, social assistance, social security policy and administration, welfare services policy development and implanting support and social policy and integrated service delivery.
Ms Capa also reiterated that the role of the Committee was to ensure that annual performance plans of the department as well as entities were aligned with strategies so that it could discharge effective oversight. The budget vote debate will take place on 12 May 2015.
