The Portfolio Committee on Arts and Culture mourns passing of actress, Lesego Motsepe
The Portfolio Committee on Arts and Culture is saddened by the death of renowned South African actress Ms Lesego Motsepe. Her passing leaves behind a massive gap in the performing arts industry within the country.
“As a South African I count myself lucky to have witnessed in my lifetime the immense talent that Lesego was, and while she has departed she will remain in our hearts,” said Ms Thandile Sunduza, the Chairperson of the Committee.
The Committee has always maintained that the arts play a central role in efforts to build and fortify social cohesion in the country, and Ms Motsepe played an active role in that regard. “We commend her for her enormous contribution to this course and we further hope that she has inspired other actors to go an extra mile in ploughing back to their communities with their God given talents,” Ms Sunduza said.
The Committee sends their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends and hope they find solace in the fact that she has achieved what she set out to in this world though her enormous contribution to the growth of the arts industry.
