Nkandla ad hoc committee unlikely to meet this week

Due to ongoing work to develop the report of the Committee and a congested Parliamentary programme, the Ad Hoc Committee considering the report by the President regarding the security upgrades at his Nkandla private residence is unlikely to meet this week.

The Committee met last week (09 October 2014) to consider the draft report. A request was made by the technical team drafting the report to refine the first draft of the report. Furthermore, some of the Committee Members are Chairpersons of other Parliamentary Committees that are currently considering Budgetary Review and Recommendations Reports (BRRR) of the Departments. The process of considering the BRRR has to be finalized by 24 October 2014.

The next meeting of the Committee to deliberate on the draft report will be communicated to the media and the public as soon as the technical team submits it to the Chairperson.
