Members of the media are advised that the State of the Nation Address (SONA) media accreditation application deadline has been extended to tomorrow, Thursday, 16 January 2025, at 17h00. Applications can be made on the following link: https://tinyurl.com/sasona2025.
NB: Members of the media who missed the initial deadline are urged to make use of this opportunity, as no further extension will be made.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has, in terms of the Constitution, called for a joint sitting of the two Houses of Parliament in liaison with the National Assembly Speaker, Ms Thoko Didiza, and the National Council of Provinces Chairperson, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane.
The joint sitting is scheduled for Thursday, 6 February 2025, at 19:00. This is the first State of the Nation Address in this new term of Parliament following the 2024 National and Provincial Elections.
SONA live broadcast requests
Media wishing to broadcast from the parliamentary precinct must send their formal requests (via email) to the officials below and must provide the following additional information:
• Name of the media house
• Details of structures to be used for the broadcast
• Make and registration number(s) of vehicle(s) needed for broadcast
• Service provider clearance certificates for proposed temporary broadcast-related structures
• Other equipment
• Date and time of arrival for setup and departure
