Committee condemns behaviour of opposition members over SASCOC Inquiry Report
The Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation strongly condemned the behaviour of two opposition members who abruptly left the meeting after learning that the inquiry report relating to the investigation of allegations of maladministration and financial irregularities at the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) would not be presented during the meeting.
The committee further condemned the discourteous comments directed at the Minister, Ms Tokozile Xasa who was not present to defend herself. While the committee is in full agreement with the members that the committee be briefed on the findings before the report is released, Chairperson of the committee, Ms Beauty Dlulane said that this type of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Ms Dlulane said that the Minister had indicated that she was not yet ready to present the report on the SASCOC issue to the committee, and it is her intention to request that the committee be briefed on the matter before the expected release date on Friday, 7 December 2018.
