Parliament completes shortlist for SABC and MDDA board vacancies

The Sub-Committee of the Portfolio Committee on Communications has shortlisted five candidates for one vacancy on the board of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and 13 candidates for the three vacancies on the board of the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA).      

The shortlisted candidates for the SABC vacancy, which arose from the resignation of former Chairperson, Ms Zandile Tshabalala, are Ms Jennifer Anne Irish-Qobosheane, Mr Keabetswe Modimoeng, Mr Ashwin Hirjee Trikamjee, Dr Ntombizandile Carol Lesame and Ms Saskia Janine Hickey.

The shortlisted candidates for the three MDDA board vacancies are Ms Pearl Ncamisile Maseko, Mr Yengwayo Wilberforce Kutta, Mr Keabetswe Modimoeng, Mr Thamsanqa Isaac Ntenteni, Adv Kwena Thomas Ntsewa, Ms Belese Nobubele Majova, Ms Palesa Kadi, Mr Radithoana Solomon Motsepe, Mr Mahmood Abdulla Sanglay, Mr Olwethu Sipuka, Dr William Peter Rowland, Ms Vuyelwa Vivian Mdazana and Mr Jabulane Blose.

Committee Chairperson Ms Joyce Moloi-Moropa expressed confidence in the shortlisted candidates, saying that they were balanced with regard to gender, age, disability and race representation.  

The interviews for the SABC board vacancy are scheduled for 2 April 2015, while those for the MDDA vacancies will take place on 31 March and 1 April 2015.
