Overloading minibus driver to make second court appearance

The 53 year old driver who was arrested for overloading 55 learners in a 15 seater minibus on the Klipgat - Madidi road outside Brits in the North West Province is to appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates Court tomorrow, Tuesday 20 September 2011.

William Maluleka was allegedly transporting learners from a school in Madidi to Klipgat when it was pulled over by traffic officers from the North West Road Traffic management unit in Klipgat at around 2:30pm on Tuesday last week. 

The officers issued Maluleka with a R2500 fine for operating a scholar transport business without a permit .They escorted him to deliver the learners aged between 7-10 years at their various homes before taking him to be locked up at Klipgat Police station as he could not arrange alternative transport.

He was released on warning during his first court appearance last Wednesday and the docket refereed back to the police for further investigation.
