Operation Clean Audit has been put in place where committees have been formed in each province in order to focus on obtaining the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs’ goal: to obtain clean audits by 2014.
Key stakeholder involved in this process are provincial government, MECs, National and Provincial Treasury, Standing Committee on public Accounts (SCOPA), the Auditor and Accountant General, the Hawks, South African Local Government Association (SALGA), South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA).
This Western Cape is the fourth provincial launch after North West, Limpopo and Northern Cape; the project will be launched in the remaining provinces within the next few weeks.
