History was made on Friday 13 November 2009 when the Lephalale South African Military Health Service (SAMHS) Training facility was officially opened by the Surgeon General of the South African National Defence Force, Lt Gen VI “Vejay” Ramlakan, at Lephalale, in Limpopo.
The facility used to be an army facility and became the property of the SAMHS earlier this year when the need arose for more accommodation and training facilities for the military skills development system intakes.
With the assistance of the national Department of Public Works the upgrading of the facility, the building of new classrooms, dining hall and married quarters took about 14 weeks. “This facility is indeed testimony to what can be achieved when all role-players work together to better the lives of our people,” the Surgeon General said when he officially handed the facilities over to the General Officer Commanding of the Military Health Training Formation, Brigadier General “JJ” Msimang.
The facility was handed over in time for the passing-out parade of the current Military Skills Development System (MSDS) intake early in December.
