Open day at Ann Lasky Nursing College postponed

The Ann Lasky Nursing College in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, would like to inform the citizens of the province that an open day which was scheduled for Saturday, 24 March 2012 has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

The recruitment of nursing students for the Gauteng Nursing Colleges for the 2013 intake is however continuing at all Gauteng Labour Centers on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays so those interested in the nursing profession should continue to submit their applications and the closing date is 30 April 2012.

The minimum requirements for application are a matric Senior Certificate with English, D symbol on Higher Grade or a C symbol for standard grade and a minimum of 13 points.

Applicants who are in possession of a National Senior Certificate are required to have an English achievement level 4, plus 4 times 20 credit subjects with an achievement level of 3 or more (excluding English) and two other subjects in order to obtain an Admission Points Score (APS) of 20.

If an applicant has successfully completed at least one year’s post grade 12 education, the Matric score is not considered.  The applicant then qualifies to progress to the second stage of the selection process and has to write an assessment.

Applicants who are in grade 12 this year are required to submit a grade 11 report. These applicants should collect the application forms from any of the Gauteng Provincial Nursing Colleges (Chris Hani Baragwanath; Ann Lasky; SG Lourens or GaRankuwa).

Applicants also need to submit certified copies of a Matric Certificate, Identity Document, Proof of Address and Marriage Certificate/Divorce Order/Affidavit if customarily married.

The successful applicants will study for four years. The nursing course consists of theoretical and practical training in various hospitals and clinics in and around the Gauteng province.
