The South African Revenue Service will from today, Monday 16 November 2009 extend its hours of operation at all branch offices to assist taxpayers trying to meet the 20 November deadline for the electronic submission of tax returns.
South African Revenue Service (SARS) branch offices will be open from 07h00 to 18h00 daily from Monday, 16 November 2009, until Friday 20 November 2009, allowing for an extra three hours per day during which taxpayers can receive free assistance.
Some SARS branch offices will be open till 07h00 depending on taxpayer volumes during the day.
The SARS contact centre will also extend its operating hours on weekdays to 08h00. This measure will also be in operation until Friday 20 November 2009.
To date SARS has received three million income returns, nearly 700 000 more returns compared to the same period last year.
In addition to the extended office hours, SARS officials will be at a number of public venues to assist taxpayers with submitting their returns. SARS officials will be available at these venues from 09h00 to 15h00.
