Mr Oscar Pistorius appeal hearing

Members of the media are advised the appeal in the Oscar Pistorius case will be heard at the Supreme Court of Appeal (Bloemfontein), on 3 November 2015. Due to the continued media interest in the matter, media are requested to submit their names via their editors for the upcoming court date to the Office of the Chief Justice.

Kindly be advised that there will be limited seating, as such we request that media houses assist us in sending accreditation for one person only, to be seated inside the courtroom. We will not be providing an overflow courtroom.

Practice Notice 1/2009 on the Expanded Media Coverage of the Proceedings of the Supreme Court of Appeal must be adhered to at all times. Kindly ensure that the decorum of the court is upheld at all times.

We have noted the requests for camera access into the courtroom, in line with Practice Notice 1/2009 section 6, a pool feed system will be utilized to reduce disruptions inside the courtroom. This will also apply to photographers. As such it is imperative that those requesting to have video feed inside the courtroom attending a meeting on Wednesday, 21 October 2015, at the Supreme Court Appeal, in Court A, Bloemfontein, 10h00.

Guidelines applicable during the appeal hearing:
1. All media personnel are to be seated by 09h45
2. Movement is to be kept to an utmost minimum once proceedings have begun.
3. The inability to adhere to these guidelines and Practice Notice 1/2009 will lead to individuals being requested to leave the courtroom.
4. Only accredited media personnel will be allowed access.
