NPC Jam has been a resounding success

The 72 hour NPC Jam which concluded at 12h00 today , has been a resounding success. Over 10 300 logins were recorded and over 8700 individual posts made. It has been the biggest online dialogue ever held in Africa.

Almost 10 000 South Africans registered for the NPC Jam and participants from each one of the 52 municipal areas in the country took part. Youth dominated the Jam, contributing over 40% of the content. Half of those who logged in actually participated and made posts. This is a very high participation rate.

NPC commissioners led by Chairperson Minister Trevor Manuel and Deputy Chair, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, actively engaged with participants over 72 hours across 10 themes.

The NPC secretariat, working with IBM, will now produce a detailed report of all the contributions made, using IBM's business analytic tools.

Although the Jam closed at 12h00 today, registered participants will be able to log on and be able to read all content posted during the jam.  This ‘read only’ facility will be available until the end of November and can be accessed from 13h00 today. Even those who did not register to participate, can still register by visiting www.npconline.co.za and be able to read all the contributions which have been made.

Commenting on the NPC Jam , Minister Manuel said  "Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas in the largest-ever online dialogue in our country. You have made history. Your contributions will go a long way in helping the commission develop a vision and plan for our country. Rest assured that we will take each and every contribution seriously.   I urge you to come back often to read all of the conversations in the Jam. It will remain available until the end of  November. To keep up-to-date with the NPC's activities, go to www.npconline.co.za and follow us on Facebook and Twitter."
