Notice of urgent medicine recall

The Department of Health and Social Development in Gauteng has taken note of the recall of the diabetic and antibiotic drugs by Be-Tabs Pharmaceutical. The company has notified us that there was a mislabelling between the two drugs. The following medication, Cozole tablets batch number DC 8021 and Daicare tablets batch number 8021 patient ready packs, have been recalled.

Diacare was packed in Cozole marked packets. Cozole is a big round white tablet with a break line in front and a b logo at the back of the tablet. Diacare is a smaller oval shaped white tablet with a break line in the centre of the tablet.

The tablets received in public facilities are packed in patient ready packs (white plastics Ziploc bank bags). The department calls on patients who may have received the drugs with the above batch numbers to please return them to the nearest clinic.
