Northern Cape Department of Health call for nominations to Health Governance Structures hospital boards, community health centre committees and clinic committees

The Northern Cape Government applies a multi-sectoral approach to the establishment for Health governance structures. The Honourable MEC for Health Mr. MS Sokatsha seeks to appoint a dynamic, highly committed team of community members who have the passion for the proper functioning of Health Governance structures in Namakwa, Siyanda, Frances Baard, Pixley-ka-Seme and John Taolo Gaetsewe Districts

Hospital Boards, Community Health Centre Committees and Clinic Committees. These members must come from the community structures, organised sectors, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Churches and should represent all of our diverse communities in the areas that are served by the health establishments. The MEC will appoint all successful candidates as members of the Hospital Boards, Community Health Centre Committees and Clinic Committees.

Terms of reference for the Governance Structures:

  • To ensure effective provisioning of Health services to the community by:
     
    • Attending to the concerns raised by the community
             
    • Ensuring smooth interaction between the community and the Management
    • Hold community meetings to pick up issues of concern and discuss them in the meeting.
       
  • Attending meetings regularly
    • To advocate for a healthy life style
    • To mobilise communities around Health awareness campaigns

Criteria for nominations:

The nominee must:

  • Belong to the sector in which they are nominated (no self-nominations)
  • Have been actively involved in community work
  • Be willing to serve voluntarily and actively on the structure

The following sectors are invited to nominate suitable candidates:

  • Business, Churches, NGO’s
  • Children sectors
  • Women sectors
  • Youth structures

Term of office

Individuals nominated will serve for the period of three years. The term start on the 01 June 2013 and will be expected to participate actively in all structural activities.

Kindly submit a comprehensive profile and CV of your nominee and include a 1page motivational letter that promotes the suitability of the concerned member to serve on the Structure.
