North West women traffic officers net 155 more road offenses

One hundred and fifty-five motorists were brought to book for various road traffic offenses by women law enforcers around Vryburg, Taung, Huhudi, Christiana, Wolmaranstad and on the N18 Vryburg-Mahikeng road in the North West Province in the past few days.

North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety & Liaison, Ms Desbo Mohono says that speeding which contributes towards most accidents received special attention with 55 motorists caught on roads across Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.

Other offenders felt the pinch of the women enforcers from the Provincial Road Traffic Management Unitas they were booked for road offenses such as drunken driving, driving without licenses, driving unlicensed, driving while using cellphones and for overloading.

The Zero tolerance special operations to commemorate women’s month are in support the United Nations’ Decade for Road Safety and the National Rolling enforcement Plan aimed at reducing lawlessness and accidents on public roads.
