North West traffic arrests two and recover vehicle stolen in Mpumalanga

A stolen vehicle was recovered and two Zimbabwean nationals arrested by North West Public Safety traffic officers near Hartbeespoortdam on Wednesday.

It is alleged that the vehicle in which the two suspects were travelling was pulled over by two traffic officers between Peaconwood and the Lanseria T-junction at around 13h00 for failing to display registration plates. The two officers were on patrol duty on the R512 in the Broederstroom area as part of their 2010 Football World Cup deployment.

Upon further investigation, the officers found that the vehicle, a white Mazda Midge sedan had been reported stolen in Denilton, Mpumalanga province. They immediately arrested the occupants and handed them and the stolen vehicle, over to Hartbeespoort Police.

North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa commends the traffic officers for their vigilance and for the arrest of the two suspects.
