North West Tourism on service excellence in tourism sector

Service excellence pivotal in Tourism Sector

In what could be termed a total turnaround in the Tourism and Hospitality industry became evident during the service excellence workshop recently hosted in Ngaka Modiri Molema District in Zeerust by the Provincial and the National Departments of Tourism. The workshop targeted tourism product owners and was geared towards making the province hospitable and how best they can increase the pace on customer services and other frontline services.

More than Hundred product owners that included Guest house owners, Tour operators and Tour guides headed the call. Tourism students and many others in the tourism sector agreed that service excellence is critical in further building and developing their products to greater heights. Delegates further agreed that for the province to become a preferred tourism destination, service excellence will have to be the pillar of business.

One of the delegates Mr. Khumoetsile Kgoroge, said that the workshop was an eye opener and requested that such activities should be done on regular basis. “We have been in the hospitality industry for many years. Service excellence has been a serious challenge. From the welcoming smile at the reception, clean linen, good food and a send off that suggest seeing the person again can actually be good to make one’s business a regular feat for tourism in the Province,” he concluded.

Delegates were given an opportunity to recap on the significance of delivering quality service, sharing information on acceptable service standards, entrenching the culture of delivering excellent services and improving the service level with the province.

The workshop was in line with the North West Tourism MEC, Desbo Mohono’s call, that tourism product owners should give tourists a world class treatment, which will make them come back for more to experience the wonders provided by the entire province.“We must also practice and offer excellent services to our guests, in that way we will be making sure that we contribute positively to the growth of tourism in the province,” said Mohono.

The last workshop amongst those held in the entire Province will be hosted in Bojanala District soon.
