As part of infrastructure development, tourism facilities in the North West province are to undergo a major upgrading to ensure that tourism continues to grow and contribute to the socio-economic well being of the province, North West Premier Thandi Modise announced in her State of the Province Address delivered in Mahikeng on Friday.
In calling for a higher target for 2012 from the 1,3% growth that was earmarked for the industry in the past financial year, Premier Modise announced that the province would host the National Tourism Day in September.
The Province has established a preparatory team for the successful delivery of the event.
Premier Modise said that efforts have to be made to encourage people of the province to discover the joys of their facilities in their own province.
