North West strengthens Provincial Council to coordinate multi sectoral response to HIV and AIDS

A new Council to coordinate and monitor the implementation of programmes and strategies for the North West Province multi sectoral response to HIV and Aids is to be launched. The inauguration ceremony for nominated members to serve on the Provincial Council on Aids (PCA) over the next two years is to be held as from 9:00 am at the Mmabatho Palms Hotel in Mahikeng on Monday.

“The new council has to create and strengthen partnerships for an expanded North West Province response among government agencies, NGOs, donors, private and people living with HIV and AIDS. Functional structures will intensify” says Premier Thandi Modise who is to deliver the keynote address at the ceremony.

The new council will be charged with governance in matters pertaining to HIV and Aids in the province, delivery of the mandates in terms of the North West Provincial Council on Aids Act and the appointment process of the NWPCA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to administer and to manage the organisation and to drive the provincial multi-sectoral plan on HIV and Aids and TB.

Government Departments, Business Sector, Disabled People South Africa-North West, People with Disability, North West People Living With HIV and AIDS, National Association of People living With Aids (NAPWA),North West House of Traditional Leaders, SANCO, Interfaith Council of South Africa, Traditional Healers,  ANC,COSATU,SANCO,DA,COPE and UCDP are among organisations that have nominated the twenty-six member council.
