The North West government’s communication capacity will be in the spotlight this week when the provincial government convenes on a two-day Provincial Communication Lekgotla at Cooke’s Lake in Mafikeng.
The meeting, which will be attended by all government communicators including municipalities and parastatals, will be opened by Premier Thandi Modise on Thursday. The Premier is expected to challenge all communicators to improve the quality of their performance to enable the provincial government to deliver consistent and coherent messages to the public.
During the Lekgotla, the province will discuss its communication strategy for the current electoral term to ensure that the strategy responds to the challenges and communication environment in the province. The discussions will also seek to ensure effective and co-ordinated implementation of the strategy.
Mr Lumko Mtinde, the CEO of the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) and member of the SABC Board, has also been invited to share his views around the role of the media in transformation and related matters.
