The North West Province is to showcase its state of readiness to host six 2010 FIFA Football World Cup matches to be played at Royal Bafokeng Stadium. North West Premier, Mme Maureen Modiselle is scheduled to address the joint parade around 10h00 at Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday.
The show of forces parade is scheduled to commence at 8h00 at the
Rustenburg Civic Centre and proceed along Nelson Mandela Drive to Olympia Stadium. The parade by the Police, South African National Defence Force, Traffic law enforcement officials and Disaster Management Coordinating teams among others is expected to the Platinum City to a standstill. "We have rehearsed and made necessary alterations to our integrated safety, security and disaster management master plans based on lessons we have learned during the Confederation Cup. Our team is more than ready. We will be on top of our game," vows North West MEC for Public Safety Howard Yawa.
Members of the public are invited to watch demonstrations exercises by the police dog unit, French technique crowd control, parachute and role landing and hostage rescue exercise by the police task force.
Entertainment will also include performance by local artists and diski dance demonstrations. Other forces included in the parade will be the Fire and Emergency Services from Bojanala Platinum District Municipality and local municipalities within its jurisdiction, Departments of Home Affairs, Health and Social Services, Border Control Operating and Coordinating Committee and Business Against Crime North West.
The event is to be graced by among others Members of the Executive Council, traditional leaders including Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi of the Royal Bafokeng Administration, representatives of the business sector and representatives of the public transport sector.
