“My earnest appeal to all athletes is that we pull together as a family in a unified effort to make our nation proud. We must see this event as the beginning to an effort of bringing more participants on board as a province. It is the sportsmanship that brings honour and prestige to a nation. Be proudly South African and remember that the whole North West province will be fully behind you, and represent us well” said MEC Hlomane Chauke.
South Africa is a proud sporting nation, celebrating the success of our athletes in competitions as well as our country in hosting impressive international sporting events on regular basis. Included in these accolades are the achievements of our Special Olympics athletes who in China at the 2007 Special Olympics Worlds Summer Games returned with none less than 90 medals” said Annemarie Van Weiringen CEO of Special Olympics South Africa.
