Provincial Treasury engages individual municipalities on Mid-Year Budget and Performance Assessment

Provincial Treasury has started with engagements with municipalities to fulfil its responsibility of providing support and oversight towards the municipal Mid-Term Budget with the view to assist municipalities identify blockages and ensure that financial performance for the remaining municipal financial year enables service delivery. 

The engagements assess service delivery performance, reviews budgets against Service Delivery Budget Improvement Plan targets for an in-depth reflection on financial capital and evaluate expenditure performance against plans including assessment relating to financial performance in support of planned services.

MEC Motlalepula Rosho says that the Provincial Government is concerned that there is continued disregard to compliance with legislation and these engagements are aimed at Provincial Treasury doing an in-depth analysis to assess if expenditure performance is impacting positively on service delivery targets. The MEC intends to ensure that Councilors robustly conduct oversight so that all the grey arears identified are urgently attended to. 

The engagements are scheduled to end 22 February 2020. Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipalities were engaged from 6 to 7 February 2020, moving on to Bojanala from 7 to 12 February, Dr Kenneth Kaunda will be on 14 to 15 February and will conclude in Dr Ruth Segomotso Mompati from 20 to 22 February 2020.
