North West Provincial Government strengthens efforts to battle runaway fires
As part of ongoing efforts by government to contain fires ravaging various parts of the province the provincial government in collaboration with Working on Fire has deployed three (3) helicopters and one (1) spotter to battle runaway fires in Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality and other affected areas. The team arrived last night.
Six (06) fire teams of Working on Fire from Limpopo, Free State and Mpumalanga provinces will arrive later today.
Over fifty thousand (50 000) hectares of land have been destroyed by the fire which started a week ago.
Government is monitoring the situation and will on a continuous basis provide updates to affected areas. Ends
