North West mourns the passing away of Dr Molefi Sefularo

The North West Provincial Government has learnt with sadness and sorrow the passing of Dr. Molefi Sefularo, Deputy Minister of Health in the Administration of President Jacob G Zuma.

Dr. Sefularo was the Senior Medical Officer of Thusong Hospital from 1986 to 1991. From that period he was the National Policy Coordinator of the National Progressive Primary Health Care Network.

With the advent of democracy (democracy) in 1994, Dr. Molefi Sefularo became the Member of Executive Council for Health. He was re-elected to the same position in 1999 to 2004, he joined the National Assembly (Parliament) and became a whip for Trade and Industry, Transport Portfolio Committees respectively.

In 2008 the then President Kgalema Motlanthe appointed Deputy Minister of Health and he continued on the same portfolio under the administration of President Jacob Zuma. We the citizen of North West Province have lost a valuable asset, a medic, intellectual giant, gallant fighter, a man of people. We pride ourselves in his soft-spokenness, simplicity and humility.

To the Premier of North West Province he was a friend, comrade, colleague, and above all a brother. No amount of words or speech could describe a sense of loss that has befallen the people of North West and South Africa in general.
