Ngaka Modiri Molema district municipality in Bokone Bophirima will now have all of its executive functions performed by an Administrator, in terms of the Section 139(1)(b) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
Nono Dince, who is the acting Municipal Manager at the institution, will with immediate effect, assume the position of an Administrator and facilitate the process to appoint an acting Municipal Manager, as well as team of experts in technical, financial management, corporate services, legal services and strategic planning and management to assist her to fully execute her duties.
MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements, Collen Maine, said the Administrator will be responsible for improving service delivery in the district by prioritising water and sanitation services, stabilise and improve administration within the municipality, improve financial controls in the municipality, implement past and current investigations, commissions of enquiry and forensic audits, attend to labour matter, facilitate the improvement of governance within council, conclude disciplinary cases, investigate all recently awarded contracts to establish validity and legitimacy thereof, investigate and take appropriate action on any transgression and contraventions to applicable legislations and regulations.
