North West local government department hosts service delivery summit

The North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs will on the 2 and 3 February 2012 host the first Local Government ward councilor’s summit between Department and Municipalities at the Rustenburg Civic Centre.

The purpose of the Summit is to deliberate and craft a plan on the implementation of the current ward based service delivery model and also engage on issues of Private-Public Partnership to improve delivery of Basic Services at Municipal Level and the Strategic Interventions required to improve the state of good governance and delivery of services in the future.

Central to this, the department intends to determine its status quo in terms of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG Date: 25 January 2012) in order to map a way forward in improving and accelerating service delivery in the province.

Targeted audience and role players will include Mayors and Executive Mayors, Speakers, Ward Councillors, National, Provincial and Local Government officials, water boards, parastatals, Development Bank of Southern Africa, traditional leaders, commercial banks, the mining sectors, and other key stakeholders including the media in general.
