North West Legislature SCOPA to Provincial Accountant-General over progress report on resolving R13,2 billion irregular expenditure for Province
On Thursday, 19 October 2017, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Standing Committee on Provincial Public Accounts (SCOPA) will hold a meeting with the Provincial Accountant-General, Mr. Geo Paul and senior management of the Department of Finance, Economy and Enterprise Development over progress report on how the provincial government is addressing the unresolved irregular expenditure of R13, 2 billion for the province ending 31 March 2016.
The lack of consequence management has led to increased levels of irregular expenditure, with a further R2 976 million in 2016 (2015: R2 062 million).
The Head of Finance Department, Mr. Ndlela Kunene and Office of the Provincial Audit will also be present in the meeting.
