North West SCOPA calls Bojanala District Municipality to account over allegations of financial mismanagement

On Wednesday, the North West Provincial Legislature's Standing Committee on Provincial Public Accounts (SCOPA) has called the Bojanala District Municipality to account over allegations of financial misconduct. The meeting will be at 17h00 in the Legislature Committee Room 2.

This follows media reports that employees of the municipality threatened to burn the municipal offices due to financial mismanagement and non-payment of salaries including statutory payments such as medical aid and South African Revenue Services deductions.

Earlier on the day, the Standing Committee will hold Public Finance Management Act and Municipal Finance Management Act public hearings for the 2017/18 audit reports as follows;

  • Department of Social Development at 12h30
     

 MFMA Public Hearings:

  • Tswaing Local Municipality at 15h00
