North West Government warns public over “tender awards” fraudsters

The Bokone Bophirima Provincial Government has learned with dismay increasing reports about individuals who are approaching unsuspecting members of the public with fraudulent tender award letters which are used to borrow money for the purported “delivery of tender project conditions”, and offering the money lenders a share once the tendered project is completed and paid by government.

The Provincial Government is deeply concerned by such reports as fraudsters are apparently claiming to have obtained those tenders from the Provincial Government, and “through the influence of the Premier of Bokone Bophirima”.

These absurd and unlawful acts are reported to be rife in the Matlosana and Mahikeng areas.

The Provincial Government wishes to reiterate the fact that Premier of Bokone Bophirima Mr SOR Mahumapelo and Members of the Executive Council are by virtue of them occupying the political seats, not allowed by law to have any influence on who get the tenders as they are not members of the provincial Tender Adjudication Committees.

“We condemn with strongest words possible what is being alleged about the Premier, and view these malicious reports in serious light”.

Members of the public are cautioned against these fraudsters who take advantage of residents’ financial standing, while at the same time denting the image of the Provincial Government and that of the Premier.

“We urge members of the public to report any such suspecting incident to the nearest police station for investigation”.
