The North West Provincial Government wishes to congratulate Judge Mogoeng Mogoeng on his nomination as Chief Justice by President Jacob Zuma.
On behalf of the people of the North West, we wish to express our support and best wishes to him.
Judge Mogoeng Mogoeng is an experienced judge whose professional integrity is beyond reproach. He has led the North West High Court with distinction as Judge President for about eight years.
Criticism against Judge Mogoeng that he is conservative or not independent, are based largely on prejudice and not on facts. Judge Mogoeng’s critics are now scraping through the bottom of the barrel to cast aspersions on his integrity and professional independence.
The government and people of the North West province have confidence in the ability of Judge Mogoeng to be our next Chief Justice.
The provincial government appreciates the fact that those who hoped their preferred candidates would be nominated, are now disappointed. But this does not give them the licence to launch unwarranted attacks on Judge Mogoeng.
