North West Education and Sport Development on South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod

The North West Education and Sport Development scooped position 3 at the national South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) competitions held at Rhema Church Ministries on 30th June – 2nd July 2015.

The Bokone Bophirima achieved position 3 in the Schools Choral Eisteddfod school competition, whereby 7 schools obtained position 1 in different categories (Primaries, Secondary A, Secondary B and Secondary Open) and sections (African, Western, Afrikaans, Indigenous Folklore, Advocacy Rendition, Soli, Duet, and Small Ensemble). All 6 choirs that are the 2015 champions received pianos and the 8 runners-up that is 4 position 2 and 4 position 3 received melodic while every school received a framed participation certificate.

The schools which achieved position 1 at the national competition were namely: Reoleboge Special School (Moruleng Village) from Bojanala District that performed Own choice and obtained 77,33 marks, Zamukulunga Primary School (Jouberton, Klerksdorp) from Dr Kenneth Kaunda performed indigenous song and obtained 94.00 marks, Moedwil Secondary School (Kgetleng River) from Ngaka Modiri Molema District performed Come, Come, Ye Saints and obtained 68.33 marks, Pule Leeuw  (Huhudi, Vryburg) from Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati obtained position 1 in the 2 different sections and that is Advocacy Rendition: Plea for Africa obtained 79.33) and Preamble to the Constitution of RSA (obtained 83.33 marks), and Reabona Secondary School (Tswelelang Township, Wolmaranstad) from Dr Kenneth Kaunda Secondary School performed the 15th year SASCE anniversary and obtained 81.67 marks while Nkang  Matlhale Secondary School soloist (Jouberton, Klerksdorp) from Dr Kenneth Kaunda also obtained 81.67 in Umqhubansuku repertoire and she went home with the personal trophy.

The North West Education and Sport Development, MEC Maphefo Matsemela who attended the 3 days of the school competition held at Rhema Church Ministries could not hide her excitement about the province’s achievement.

“This is the best achievement in the 15 years of South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) since its inception in 2001. The North West province’s performance was the best; all our schools did us proud. I believe this 2015 achievement will inspire other schools to achieve more in coming years. I would like to thank all teachers who put their time away to guide our learners”, said Matsemela.
