The North West Education and Sport Development department bids farewell to the two learners and their educator from the North West School for the Deaf on Saturday and Sunday respectively at Montshiwa, Dikoipi and Babong Village in Bojanala District.
The trio were part of the nine passengers who were travelling from Durban, were they attended the Deaf activities for learners. The driver of their minibus kombi lost control and the vehicle rolled several times, killing the two learners and their assistant teacher and seriously injuring the three learners while the driver and the other three learners were released after being treated for shock and minor injuries.
In a very sombre funeral service for the educator, Thabo Batshe held at Unibo Chapel, Mmabatho. The Acting Area Manager for Maquassi Hills, Humfrey Molefhe said the passing on of the three is a serious loss suffered by the department during this critical perion of the year. He said the knowledge that was imparted by the assistant teacher will be missed by the Department.
The funeral of learners, Neo Lekalakala was held at Bapong Village, near Brits and the funeral of Kamogelo Mokue was held at Dikoipi Village near Moruleng and both funerals were held in Bojanala District, North West province. The department assisted the three bereaved families with the funeral costs.
