Police officials and civilians who went the extra mile in the war against crime and rendered loyal service towards the South African Police Service in the past years are to be recognised at the North West Provincial Police Day and medal parade ceremony. The event is to be held as from 9h30 am tomorrow, Thursday 27 January 2011, at Ikageng Stadium in Potchefstroom.
North West Acting MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, and Dr Magome Masike is scheduled to deliver the keynote address and present medals of faithful service to members of the police service. The ceremony marks the closure of Provincial Police Week and build-up activities towards National Police Day to be held on Friday at Orlando Stadium.
The programme for the event includes inspection of parade, handover of the torch of fitness and hope to squeeze crime to zero, drill display and presentation of stars of faithful serviceto members who served 10, 20 and 30 years to the South African Police Service.
