The North West province is to host a Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS) Review workshop to align the PDGS to the New Growth Plan, North West Premier, Thandi Modise announced on Friday.
Premier Modise told members of the provincial legislature that the objective of the two-day review workshop to be held next month is to develop meaningful approaches to socio-economic strategies in order to stimulate robust economic growth for absorption of more people in the labour market.
“The North West province alone will not be a solution if it is not accompanied by innovation and active involvement of our people in various economic activities. This will be more so, given the global financial meltdown from which South Africa is still recovering,” she emphasised.
Modise said whilst the implementation of small scale poverty relief projects was necessary, focus should also be towards long term development plans, strategies and tactics.
She further said the existing Municipality Integrated Development Plans should creatively be used by local government to address the socio-economic challenges at local level aligned to provincial initiatives.
