Nominations of candidates to the National Research Foundation Board

The National Research Foundation Board was appointed in terms of the National Research Foundation Act, 1998 (Act No. 23 of 1998) by the Department of Science and Technology in 2011. The Minister of Science and Technology invites nominations from all interested persons / organisations for suitable candidates to be considered for appointment to the National Research Foundation Board. This appointment will be made in terms of section 6(1) of the National Research Foundation Act, and the successful candidate will serve until 30 September 2014.

The objective of the NRF is to support and promote research through funding, human resource development and the provision of the necessary research facilities in order to facilitate the creation of knowledge, innovation and development in all fields of science and technology, including indigenous knowledge and thereby to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of all people of the Republic.

Nominees should be persons who have achieved distinction in the field of research and technology management; business; public affairs or civil society; and corporate governance. Nominations should be submitted to the Minister of Science and Technology not later than 31 October 2012. In addition to the nominee’s curriculum vitae, the following information should also be provided: identity number, gender and race; designation and responsibilities; address, telephone, fax and email;  qualifications / field of study; current and past service on Boards; area of expertise; names of contactable referees, as well as confirmation of the availability of nominees.
