The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Gugile Nkwinti has welcomed Cabinet’s approval of Ms Nomfundo Gobodo’s appointment as the Chief Land Claims Commissioner for the Commission on Restitution of land Right.
Ms Nomfundo Gobodo is a qualified attorney with 14 years of vast experience. Her previous position was as the Director of the Legal Resources Centre, Johannesburg since 2008 and before that she worked as an attorney at the legal resources centre in Johannesburg and Durban.
She had the opportunity to work with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development. She has worked on land, customary law, non-profit in organisation support and access to justice and children’s right matters.
She has also worked for the Human Rights Commission as well as the Community Law Centre at the University of the Western Cape as a legal researcher. She has a keen interest in human rights and looking after the rights of the most vulnerable in our society. The Ministry is confident that the appointment will result in improved service delivery in the Commission on Restitution of Land Rights, and serve as an impetus towards the acceleration of land and agrarian reform in the country.
