No shortage of H1N1 vaccines in the public sector

The Department of Health would like to correct media perceptions about the said shortage of H1N1 vaccines. There is no shortage in the public health sector.

The nationwide vaccination campaign to prevent incidents of H1N1 influenza is being conducted in phases. Not everyone needs to be vaccinated against the H1N1 virus.

People who are to be vaccinated are those who are at risk of severe diseases and have been identified as follows:

Phase one: 6 April to 31 May

* Children under 15 years of age living with HIV and AIDS
* Frontline workers at ports of entry

Phase two: 3 to 31 May

* Pregnant women
* Adults living with HIV and AIDS
* Patients with lung and chronic diseases
* Frontline workers
