The newly-elected executive of the Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders has embarked on a road show to meet all its key stakeholders. The executive led by the Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders (HTL) in Mpumalanga, Chief Lameck Mokoena has paid a courtesy visit to Ndebele King, Ingwenyama Makhosoke II in Kwamhlanga.
During the meeting, Chief Mokoena committed himself to forge a strong working relationship between Emakhosi and government during their term of office and they will build on the gains that have been made by their predecessors. He also added that his task is to work hard to ensure the functionality of Traditional Councils, which Mpumalanga became the first province to constitute after successful elections.
During the meeting, King Makhosoke II committed himself to supporting the new leadership of the House of Traditional Leaders. He appealed to them to give Emakhosi feedback about issues they have succeeded in dealing with and the outstanding ones before the end of their five year term.
Chief Mokoena told King Makhosoke that members of the HTL are expected to meet MEC Madala Masuku of Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) and Premier DD Mabuza to discuss with them pertinent issues affecting traditional leaders. He said the meeting will take place after the Executive have collected them at the end of their ongoing visits.
Over the next week the leadership of the House of Traditional Leaders is expected to visit all Emakhosi in their District Local Houses. The visits to all stakeholders will culminate in an induction workshop for the new leadership on 27 - 29 June 2012.
