New Saturday train services

New train services will be introduced between Uitenhage and Port Elizabeth on Saturday, 16 January 2010. The aim is to improve the movement of commuters between the two areas over the weekend.

In the morning the train will leave Uitenhage at 06h45 to Port Elizabeth. In the afternoon it will leave Port Elizabeth station at 13h45. The trains will stop at all stations to and from both destinations and train fares will remain the same.

The introduction of the service fulfils the vision of our mother company, the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) which is to provide an enhanced mobility as the gateway to accessible social and economic opportunities.

The service will benefit passengers to and from work and when they go about their daily chores at affordable prices. Metrorail’s corporate security will also be available to ensure the safety and security of our commuters on our trains and the station environment.

We wish to remind all our commuters to always obey Metrorail safety rules each time they make use of our train services. This is for individual safety and that of fellow commuters.
