President Jacob Zuma has today, 25 October 2011, welcomed new Members of his Cabinet as well as a new Deputy Minister at the swearing-in ceremony in Tuynhuys, Cape Town, following their appointment yesterday 24 October 2011.
Constitutional Court Judge Mr Justice Zak Yacoob presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Mr Thembelani "Thulas” Nxesi as Minister for Public Works; Ms Dina Pule as Minister for Communications and Mr Lechesa Tsenoli as Deputy Minister for Rural Development and Land Reform.
The Presidency wishes to clarify that only new Members of the National Executive, and new Deputy Ministers, who are taking the oath for the first time, are required to be sworn in, as there is no need for those who had already taken the oath of office in other portfolios to do it again.
Ministers Richard Baloyi, Roy Padayachie and Deputy Ministers Obed Bapela and Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu had already taken the oath of office, while Deputy Minister-designate Ms Thembisa Stella Ndabeni will be sworn in at a later stage, as she is out of the country on Parliament business.
President Zuma thanked the new Members of Cabinet and the Deputy Minister for accepting their responsibilities and wished them well in the execution of their duties.
