New Government representatives on 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee Board of Directors

President Jacob Zuma has appointed new government representatives to the board of directors of the 2010 World Cup Organising Committee (LOC) South Africa. This brings government’s representation in line with the Cabinet appointments made after the April 2009 elections and is consistent with the 2010 guarantees being delivered by the departments that these ministers represent.

Government will now be represented on the board by:

Minister of Sport and Recreation, Makhenkesi Stofile
Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Sicelo Shiceka
Minister of Transport, Sibusiso Ndebele
Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane
Minister of Home Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma
Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa
Deputy Minister of Finance, Nhlanhla Nene

President Zuma wishes the incoming representatives well as the country enters the final stages of preparing to host the first FIFA World Cup in Africa.

“I extend my gratitude to all the ministers and deputy ministers who have been serving in the board,” President Zuma said.
