The Department of Labour has announced the appointment of Mpho Nkeli, a transformation specialist, as acting chairperson of the highly respected Commission for Employment Equity (CEE).
Nkeli has big shoes to fill, succeeding the trend setter and tough-talking, Jimmy Manyi, now Director-General of the department.
Page Boikanyo, departmental spokesperson said, Nkeli and her team of commissioners will have to complete the cycle which culminates with the launch of the 10th CEE annual report in May next year.
“Among the immediate issues the commission will have to tackle head-on are: responding to current leadership crises within parastatals and entrenching the code of good practice and technical assistance guidelines for HIV and AIDS as well as dealing with disability in the workplace,” Boikanyo said.
Nkeli is an environmental scientist by profession and has moved from the sciences into communication, marketing and later into transformation and human resources.
She is currently the Group Human Resource Executive for Alexander Forbes.
