Newly elected Premier of the North West Province, Supra Mahumapelo has committed that his administration will implement a Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal programme to change the image of the province. The commitment was made by Premier designate Mahumapelo in his acceptance speech delivered in the Provincial Legislature on Wednesday.
In his undertaking to uphold the constitution and work with opposition parties represented in the legislature, committees of the legislature and communities, Premier Mahumapelo said that the Saamwerk-Saamtrek philosophy will guide his term of office.
“Being members of the legislature makes us no better people, more intelligent than others. We are a province that has great potential. A province of people who love progress, peace and believe in the rule of law. These are people whom I refer to when I say together we move North West Forward,” Mahumapelo reminded newly sworn members.
In congratulating Susan Tsebe and Jane Manganye on their election as Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the first sitting of the fifth term of the provincial legislature, Premier Mahumapelo said that they are a collective of doers who are action oriented.
Mahumapelo committed that the leadership collective of Members of the Executive Council that he is to announce next week Tuesday will be humble, patient, work hard and be responsive to communities.
“This is the beginning of the continuing of the journey of the last 20 years. I am humbled by your decision to elect me as the Premier of this province. This position of responsibility places huge responsibilities on our collective shoulders, and creates lots of expectations from everyone. Collectively we promise to do our best to live up to the expectations that are put on us, and together with everyone, we will move South Africa forward,” he underscored.
