The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Mr Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, is particularly touched by the departure of SABC broadcaster Mr Vuyo Mbuli who passed on at the weekend.
Mr Mahlangu had developed respect for Mr Mbuli because of his informative role as a broadcaster. He viewed him as one of the top SABC personnel who demonstrated a broad knowledge of current affairs. He was able to sustain a conversation on any topic and was very professional in how he engaged with people, especially the hosts in the programme he co-presented, Morning Live. The Chairperson had been a guest of Mr Mbuli on his shows on several occasions in different locations across the country. He appreciated the fact that when communicating matters about Parliament Mr Mbuli was clear about the composition, mandate and role of this national institution.
In many of the meetings in the office Mr Mahlangu would often make jokes based on Mr Mbuli’s daily comments. When in good spirits Mr Mahlangu would banter pleasantly using one of Mr Mbuli’s signature remarks “Goeie genade!”, when in wonderment, to the amusement of fellow colleagues.
On behalf of the NCOP, Mr Mahlangu would like to convey special condolences to the Mbuli family and relatives. Having observed how the death of Mr Mbuli has touched every South African, he says that the nation has lost a unifier.
